The "L" shaped handle
casting contains an independent, hammering
mechanism.
The hammering
mechanism is a genuine Chicago
Pneumatic 3A or 4A.
The CP-3A and CP-4A
riveting hammers were also made in Pistol handle,
or Gooseneck handle configurations.
Basically the
hammering mechanism will extend when the
lever is actuated, and retract when the lever is
released.
A variety of .401
shank chisels, dies, flush rivet sets can be used
in this hammer, and they are retained by a
beehive retainer spring.
The principle
idea behind this style of power hammering head,
is to give the user some independent freedom to
adapt the unit to their own specific needs
for many applications, including, but
not limited to Riveting, Peening, Planishing,
Core knock out removal, Vibratory
purposes, Staking, and so on.
