The 550 series chipping hammer, which uses a plate valve, is excellent when clean air is available and controlled hitting is the prime requirement.
The 650 series chipping hammer has a flapper type valve which will pass more dirt and contaminates without stopping than the plate type valve.
The 650 series is especially suited for rental yards, construction companies, or when working conditions are not clean.
